No. 580, 1892.—Petition of Te Ngaeupiki. Petitioner alleges that a block of land called Aotea has been surveyed by a surveyor named " Eakapata " (Eochfort ?), who is pressing the Natives for payment of his fees. He (petitioner) prays for relief. I have the honour to report that the Committee is of opinion that this petition should be referred to the Government. 14th July, 1893. ■ [Translation.] No. 580, 1892.—Pukapuka inoi a Te Ngaeupiki me etahi atu. No. 408, 1892.-—Petition of Eemana Nutana. Petitioner alleges that a block of land called Waitotuna, Eaglan District, was wrongfully taken possession of by the Government. He prays for inquiry. I have the honour to report that the Committee finds that the sum of £250 was paid as settlement in full for the land in question, they therefore have no recommendation to make. 14th July, 1893. [Translation.] No. 408, 1892. —Pukapuka inoi a Eemana Nutana. No. 340, 1892.—Petition of Wiremu Taipua. Petitioner states that the Government wrongfully lay claim to the Motutere Block (Coromandel)., and now prays for relief. I have the honour to report that the Committee is of opinion that this petition should be referred to the Government, with the recommendation that effect be given to the Act specially passed in 1873 (" The Harata Patene Eehearing Act, 1873,") to deal with the case. 14th July, 1893. No. 288, 1892.—Petition of Makeeb Tawhai and 4 Others. Petitionees allege that the Government has taken possession of a portion of the Tukituki Block, which they claim to be theirs through non-payment by the original purchaser. They pray for restitution or compensation. I have the honour to report that the Committee are of opinion that this petition should be referred to the Government, with the recommendation that the Resident Magistrate of the district should be appointed to inquire into the case, with a view of setting the matter at rest. 14th July, 1893. No. 684, 1892.—Petition of Lucy Takioea DAlton. Petitionee prays that a promise made by the late Hon. J. Sheehan, when Native Minister, to the effect that a town section in Stratford should be granted to her, maybe redeemed. I have the honour to report that the Committee is of opinion that this petition should be referred to the Government, with the recommendation that the prayer of petitioner be granted 14th July, 1893.
