ORDERS OF REFERENCE Extract* from the Journals of tin House of Representatives Thursday, the 4th Day of March, 1943 Ordered, " That a Select Committee be appointed, consisting of ten members, to consider all matters relating to school-teachers, education, and public instruction generally, training of public-school teachers, higher education, technical education, manual instruction, and such other matters affecting education as may lie referred to it: the Committee to consist of Mr. Atmore, Mr. Bodkin, Mr. Boswell, the Rev. Mr. Carr, Mr. Combs, Mr. Doidge, Mrs. Grigg, Mr. MeCombs, Mr. Petrie, and the Mover." —(Hon. Mr. Mason.) Friday, the sth Day op March, 1943 Ordered, "That all petitions not finally dealt with during the session of 1941-42 be again referred to the same Committees as tliey were referred to during the said session." —(Right Hon. Mr. Fraser.) Thursday, the 20th Day of May, 1943 Ordered, " That Select Committees have leave to sit for the remainder of the session on days on which the House does not meet."—(Right Hon. Mr. Fraser.) Wednesday, the 23rd Day of June, 1943 Ordered, " That the Education Committee have leave to sit during the present sitting of the House." — (Rev. Clyde Carr.) Wednesday, the 4tii Day of August, 1943 Ordered, " That the Education Amendment Bill be referred to the Education Committee." —(Hon. Mr. Mas6n.) REPORTS No. 44/1942. —Petition of Alma B. Davies, of Hamilton Praying for compensation on account of termination of her services as a teacher. I am directed to report that the Committee has no recommendation to make. 15th June, 1043. No. 53/1942. —Petition of J. S. Mackenzie, of Wellington Praying for a rehearing of his case before the Teachers' Appeal Board. 1 have the honour to report that the Committee has no recommendation to make. 2nd July, 1943. Education Amendment Bill 1 have the honour to report that the Education Committee has carefully considered the Education Amendment Bill, and recommends that it be allowed to proceed without amendment.
