ORDERS OF REFERENCE.

Extracts from the Journals of the House of Representatives. Wednesday, the 12th Day of October, 1932. Ordered, " That a Select Committee be appointed, consisting of ten members, to consider all Bills containing provisions of a technical legal character which may be referred to it; with power to confer and sit together with any similar Committee appointed by the Legislative Council : the Committee to consist of Mr. Barnard, Mr. Bodkin, Mr. Broadfoot, the Hon. Mr. Cobbe, Mr. Endean, Mr. Field Mr. Mason, Mr. Schramm, Mr. Wilkinson, and the mover." —-(Hon. Sir Amrana Ngata.) Wednesday, the 26th Day or October, 1932. Ordered, " That the Judicial Proceedings (Regulation of Reports) Bill be referred to the Statutes Revision Committee." —(Mr. Eraser.) Wednesday, the 2nd Day of November, 1932. Ordered, " That the Orders in Council Confirmation Bill be referred to the Statutes Revision Committee."— (Mr. Barnard (for the Rev. Mr. Carr.) Ordered,." That the British Nationality and Status of Aliens (in New Zealand) Amendment Bill be referred to the Statutes Revision Committee."—(Mr. Fraser.) Ordered, " That the Gaming Amendment Bill be referred to the Statutes Revision Committee."—(Mr. Armstrong.) Friday, the 11th Day of November, 1932. Ordered, " That the National Expenditure Adjustment Amendment Bill be referred to the Statutes Revision Committee for consideration of clause 6."—(Right Hon. Mr. Forbes.) Wednesday, the 16th Day of November, 1932. Ordered, " That the Statutes Revision Committee have leave to sit this day during the present sitting of the House." —(Mr. Broadfoot.) Ordered, " That the Judicial Proceedings (Regulation of Reports) Bill (No. 2) be referred to the Statutes Revision Committee."—(Hon. Mr. Cobbe.) Thursday, the 17th Day of November, 1932. Ordered, " That the Statutes Revision Committee have leave to sit this day during the present sitting the House."—(Mr. Broadfoot.)

REPORTS.

National Expenditure Adjustment Amendment Bill. I have the honour to report that the Statutes Revision Committee, to which was referred clause 6 of the above-mentioned Bill, has heard evidence and has carefully considered the said clause, and the Committee recommends that the clause stand part of the Bill. 17th November, 1932.

British Nationality and Status of Aliens (in New Zealand) Amendment Bill. I have the honour to report that the Statutes Revision Committee has carefully considered the above-mentioned Bill, and the following decision was arrived at : That, pending inquiries being made from the United Kingdom through the Minister of Internal Affairs, the Committee recommends that the Bill be not proceeded with this session. 18th November, 1932.

Judicial Proceedings (Regulation of Reports) Bill. I have the honour to report that the Statutes Revision Committee has carefully considered the above-mentioned Bill, and recommends that, as the Government has introduced a measure on similar lines, the Bill referred to the Committee for consideration be not proceeded with.. 18th November, 1932.

Gaming Amendment Bill. I have the honour to report that the Statutes Revision Committee, to which was referred the abovementioned Bill, recommends that it be not proceeded with ; but the Committee, after carefully considering the full and valuable evidence adduced before it, is of opinion that the whole question with regard to the regulation of gambling should be seriously considered by the Government. 9th February, 1933.

Judicial Proceedings (Regulation of Reports) Bill (No. 2). I have the honour to report that the Statutes Revision Committee has carefully considered the Judicial Proceedings (Regulation of Reports) Bill (No. 2) and heard evidence thereon, and recommends that further consideration on the Bill be postponed until next session. 9th March, 1933.

Orders in Council Confirmation Bill. Ī have the honour to report that the Statutes Revision Committee has carefully considered the Orders in Council Confirmation Bill and heard evidence thereon, and recommends that further consideration on the Bill be held over until next session. 9th March, 1933.

Special Report. I have the honour to report that the Statutes Revision Committee desire to place on record their cordial appreciation of the ability and unfailing courtesy with which the Chairman, Mr. W. J. Broadfoot, has carried out his duties, and further, that this resolution be recorded in the minutes of the Committee, and reported to the House. 9th March, 1933. H. G. R. Special Report. I have the honour to report that the Statutes Revision Committee desires to express their appreciation of the services rendered by Mr. L. C. Dawe as Clerk of the Committee, and further, that this resolution be recorded in the minutes of the Committee, and reported to the House. 9th March, 1933. W. J. Broadfoot, Chairman.

Final Report. I have the honour to report that the Statutes Revision. Committee has held eleven meetings with an average attendance at each meeting of five members. Six Bills have been referred to the Committee, all of which have been considered and evidence heard thereon and reported to the House. 9th March, 1933. W. J. Broadfoot, Chairman.
