Ordered, "That Standing Order No. 219 be suspended, and that a Select Committee be appointed, consisting of twelve members, to consider all matters pertaining to agricultural and pastoral industries, stock, and commerce • with power to confer and sit together with any similar Committee which may be appointed by the Legislative Council, and to agree to a joint or separate report ; the Committee to have power to call for persons, papers, and records ; three to be a quorum : the Committee to consist of Mr. Burnett, Mr. Field, Mr. Forbes, Mr. J. R. Hamilton, Mr. Hawken Sir G. Hunter, Mr. Jennings, Mr. Jones, Mr. Lysnar, Hon. Mr. Ngata, Mr. Williams, and the mover."—(Hon. Mr! Nosworthy.) Tuesday, the 11th Day of October, 1921. Ordered, " That all petitions not finally dealt with during the session of 1920 and the short session of 1921 be again referred to the same Committees as they were referred to during the haid sessions."—(Right Hon. KEPO BTB. No. 8. —Petition of W. Stuart Wilson, of Wellington. Praying that action be taken as soon as possible by the Minister of Agriculture to give effect to the decision of the Government and the House of Representatives with regard to the promotion of agricultural clubs for boys. I am directed to report that the Committee is of opinion that the steps taken by the Minister of Agriculture have been on sound lines, and that they have resulted in the movement for the establishment of these clubs making excellent progress. Having regard to the present-day position, viewed from all standpoints, the Committee has no recommendation to make. 18th November, 1921.

* No. 198.- Petition of W. Stuart Wilson, of Wellington. Praying for a national effort, on the part of the whole of the people of New Zealand, by which a sum of at least £750,000 a year should be raised for the purpose of the marketing and distributing the primary products of New Zealand in the world's markets. I am directed to report that, having regard to the legislation which is to be introduced dealing with the whole question, the Committee has no recommendation to make. Ist February, 1922.

Final Report. I have the honour to report that the Committee, consisting of thirteen members, has held during the session six meetings, with an average attendance of seven at each meeting. Two petitions have been referred to. the Committee, which have been reported to the House ; an extensive inquiry was made as to the advisability of the Government undertaking the grading of meat for export, and an inquiry was also made into the claims of the nurserymen of Auckland for compensation caused through loss owing to fireblight.
