"That a Committee be appointed, consisting of ten members, to consider all matters pertaining to agricultural and pastoral industry, stock, and commerce, with power to confer and sit together with any similar Committee which may be appointee 1. by the Legislative Council, and to agree to a joint or separate report; the Committee to have power to call for persons, papers, and records; throe to be a quorum: the Committee to consist of Mr. J. REPORTS.

No. 267. —Petition of Donald Kerr, of 298 Tinakori Road, Wellington. Praying that a sum of money be granted him as compensation for injury suffered through his dismissal from the Agricultural Department. I am directed to report that the Committee has no recommendation to make on this petition. 23rd October, 1912.

No. 263.—Petition of Wilmot C. Quinnell, of Wellington. Praying that a central Veterinary and Farriery Institute be established, and to consider his special qualifications and experience when making appointments thereto. I am. directed to report that the Committee recommends for the favourable consideration of the Government that veterinary and farriery instructors should, as far as possible, be placed within reach of the farming community. 29th October, 1912.

No. 281. —Petition of the Taranaki Master Farriers and Blacksmiths' Association. Praying that the Shoeing-smiths' Bill be introduced to Parliament with a view to its becoming law during the present session of Parliament. I am directed to report that the Committee has no recommendation to make on this petition. 29th October, 1912.

Pollution of Water Bill. The Agricultural, Pastoral, Stock, and Commerce Committee, to which was referred the above mentioned Bill, has the honour to report that it has taken evidence both for and against the Bill, and recommends that the Bill be allowed to proceed with the amendments as shown on the copy of the Bill annexed hereto. 31st October, 1912.

No. 260.—Petition, of P. W. B. Greville, of Wellington. Praying that analysts be appointed with a view of better controlling the moisture-content of our dairy-produce. I am directed to report that the Committee is of opinion that the petition should be referred to the Government for consideration, and begs to recommend that the statements contained therein be inquired into with a view to action if necessary. 6th November, 1912.

Special Report. I am directed to report that the Committee desires to record in the minutes the ability and energy of the Chairman (Mr. Buchanan) in carrying out the sessional work connected with the Agricultural, Pastoral, Stock, and Commerce Committee, and also the unvarying courtesy and attention extended by him to the members of that Committee during the session. 6th November, 1912.

Pinal Report. I am directed to report, — (1.) That the Committee held 10 meetings during the session. (2.) That the Committee dealt with 1 Bill and 4 petitions. (3.) That the number of petitions referred to the Government for favourable consideration was 2. (4.) That the number on which the Committee had no recommendation to make was 2. I am also directed to report that the Committee desires to place on record the able manner in which the clerk (Mr. E. D. Dunne) has carried on the work of the Committee. 6th November, 1912.
