FIJI VISITED
DEFENCE AUTHORITIES INSPECTION CARRIED OUT HEALTH OF TROOPS 1 (By Tele^rapH.—Press Association) AUCKLAND, Friday The Prime Minister, the Rt. Hon. P. Fraser, said last night that the Minister of Defence, the Hon. F. j Jones, the Rt. Hon. J. G. Coates, a j member of the War Cabinet, the I Chiefs of Staff, Commander W. E. Parry, Major-General E. Puttick, and Air-Commodore H. W. L. Saunders, and other officials had returned from a brief visit to Fiji, where they had made an inspection of the defences and aerodrome facilities and had also been engaged in financial discussions with the Fiji Government. Mr Fraser said he had been extremely gratified to receive such excellent reports of the state of health and good spirits of the members of New Zealand forces in Fiji and of j the work they had accomplished. The , members of the party had also exI pressed their deep appreciation of | the hospitality and assistance exj tended to them during their visit by | the Governor Sir Harry Luke, and i they had referred with particular | pleasure to the splendid feeling disI played by the Government and people j of Fiji toward this Dominion.
