RAGLAN NEWS
AIRMAN HONOURED Many friends gathered at the Raglan Town Hall supper room recently in honour of Aircraftman Reg. Harsant, when a very enjoyable social evening was spent. Arranged by the patriotic committee, the function took the form of a dance, interspersed with items. Those contributing to the programme were Mrs I. Howe (pianoforte solos), Mrs R. E. Stewart (solos), Miss Esme White (solos) and Miss Maisie Jackson (sailor’s hornpipe). The music for dancing was supplied by Mrs I. Howe and Mr lan Gilmour. During the evening Mr W. R. Moore, chairman of the patriotic committee, introduced the guest-of-honour, and posies were presented to Mrs Reg. Harsant, sen., and Mrs Reg. Harsant, jun. Mr F. N. Hardey extended a warm invitation to Aircraftman Harsant to join the ranks of the R.S.A. on his return, and Mr F. Peart, on behalf of Okete and Te Uku residents, extended best wishes for a safe and speedy return. Mr Moore presented a sum of money for the purchase of a suitable gift with the good wishes of the people of the district for a successful career. Greetings were also extended to Sergeant-Pilot Peart who was present. Supper was served by members of the Patriotic and Red Cross Committees.
