RE-LICENSING OF CARS

(To the Editor) Sir,- —Several letters have recently appeared advocating a reduction in the fee for the re-licensing of private motor-cars. Under normal circumstances this fee is considered by a great many to be unduly high, and now that the motorist is compelled to curtail the use of his car by virtue of the benzine position, from the point of view of both quantity available and exorbitant cost, it would seem only just that the authorities should meet the motorist and reduce all fees by a substantial amount. It is not unreasonable of the motorist to expect that the Automobile Association should have taken the question up, but so far no apparent move has been made. Unless some decided effort is made in the very near future it will be too late, and I make the suggestion that a public meeting be called to discuss the matter.—l am, etc., FAIR PLAY. Hamilton, March 18.
