ANNUAL SWIMMING CARNIVAL (Special to Times.) MATAMATA, Monday. The Matamata Swimming Club held its annual carnival on Saturday night at the Opal Springs when there was a good attendance and a splendid programme was arranged. During the evening Messrs A. Rouse and M. Moon, and J. Ellison, all of Matamata, gave an exhibition of diving display. Clubs represented were as follows: Hamilton (Hin); Y.M.C.A. (Y.M.); Morrinsviiie (M). BOWLING TOURNEY A Tauranga rink skipped By Martyn won an all-day tournament on the Matamata Bowling Club's green on Saturday. Fourteen rinks took part. No rinks were undefeated at the completion or the sth round. Only two rinks nad gone through with a loss each, namely Tauranga (Martyn, Steele, Downer, Martyn), and Matarnata (D. Gunn,'Summerville, W. Wright, O’Conner). In the play-off Tauranga G, beat Matamata 1. six rinks, skipped By Polglaise, Blackwell, Rosenreldt, Wills, Hawke, Bell, had only two losses each. CRICKET COMPETITION Okauia had a good win in the re-play or its competition match against Waharoa, winning by 8 eight wickets when the match was completed at Bedford Park on Saturday. Okauia, 97 and 2 wickets for 108, beat Waharoa, 78 and 115. For Okauia, M. Malone (49 retired), J. Malone (31), E. Fuller (21 not out), were the principal scorers. For Waharoa liec Lennox (35), was top scorer while li. Lennox (21), C. Tordoff (16), and F. Scholium (15), also scored well, Sutton taking Tour wickets ror 36 for Okauia. The only other match, a Bowler shield game, resulted in a tie between Wurdville and 1-linuera, each side scoring 113 runs.
