Mr W. S. Goosman, M.P. for Waikato, returned to Wellington last night. Mr H. M. Peirson, Pig Extension Officer, Wellington, is visiting the Waikato. Mr C. G. C. Dermer, of Cheltenham, president of the New Zealand Jersey Cattle Breeders’ Association, is visiting the Waikato. Mr W. Thomas, of Timaru. has been elected governor of the 53rd Rotary District, which includes New Zealand and the Fiji Islands. Mr Thomas, who was district governor in 1936-37, succeeds Mr D. A. Ewen. Mr M. Kiely, telephone manager at Auckland, has been appointed deputy-chief postmaster at Auckland in succession to Mr A. M. Rosie, who will take up his new duties as chief postmaster at Hamilton in a few days. Messrs M. Harris, W. J. Martin, F. A. Bi'idgman (Auckland), M. C. Ray (Pio Pio), K. Archer (Christchurch), S. Smith (Feilding), F. S. Freeman, W. N. Freeman, G. G. Andrews (Wellington) and G. H. Da wick (Palmerston North), are at the Ham- ! iiton Hotel.
