CAiMB RI'DGL, M onday At the 16th annual meeting or the Cambridge branch of the Auckland Acclimatisation Society, the president, Mr A. Webster, presided o-ver a fair attendance or members. Tne annual report showed that the membership had increased and the Unancial position was sound. The quota ef pheasants for the branetti was liberated m July and February and reports showed that the birds had increased and prospered. Fish were liberated in August, when a large number of brawn iru.ut ova were placed in the Waikato River below Hora flora; also rainbow ilngerlings above* flora flora and in sidestreams. Fishing had been patchy over tne season hut shooting had been fair with ducks more plentiful. Election of Officers Officers were elected as follows: Patron, Mr 11. Roeke; president, Mr A. Webster; vice-presidents, lamer quinn, Messrs T. K. Butler, J. Tucker, R. Now combe; secretary, Mr W. R. Edwards; general committee, Messrs E. llailiday, c. ii. White, ii. Norris, (J. Sciiules, A. McCann, A. H. brindle, A. E. Hill; delegates to Auckland Council, Messrs A. Webster, E. llailiday; auditor, Mr W. 11. Woolley. Advice was received mat the club’s allocation of pheasants for liberation immediately was 0 cocks and 2 4 liens. it was stated that further birds sold be available lor liberation in July. The delegates to a meeting of the council in Auckland this week were instructed to oppose a notice or motion "Uiat the society give favourable consideration to closing down the hatchery ror three years and that the amount so saved be set aside as a reserve fund for the purpose of building a new hatchery, providing proper .lacilities for the storage of food and plant, extending but not rebuilding the existing concrete funds m order to treble the output and that the llsli committee be invited to consider tne proposal and be ready to report to tne next council meeting.”
