FALL IN HAMILTON LOW FEBRUARY RECORDING Heavy rain set in in Hamilton early this morning and throughout the day a steady fall was maintained. Apart from a few sharp storms toward the latter part of February, this was the first downpour for nearly two months. Last month was unusually dry, only 1.68in. being recorded, while the average for February is 3.3 lin. Farmers expressed pleasure at the fall as pastures were beginning to dry up in some areas. Yesterday was again very humid, at one stage the thermometer rose to 84 degrees. For the 48 hours ended at 9 a.m. today 1.93in. of rain was recorded in Hamilton.
