STEED—WILSON j ’(MAIDS IN GREEN AND PINK j A pretty wedding was solemnised |at Knox Presbyterian Church, Mori rinsville. on Saturday, March 8, j when Vera Joyce Wilson, eldest ! daughter of Mr and Mrs H. E. G. I Wilson, of Mangateparu, was married Jto Leslie Charles Steed, younger ! son of Mrs Rooth, of Kereone, and ■ the late Mr Charles Steed. The Rev. J Angus McKenzie officiated at the j ceremony and the organist was Mrs | Anderson. Friends of the bride had i decorated the church with masses of j belladonna lilies and asters. j The bride, who entered the church I with her father, wore a beautiful j gown of magnolia satin cut on princess lines. The corsage featured a i heart-shaped neckline, and long I sleeves inset with lace points at the ! wrists and built up at the shoulders, j The skirt fell softly to a long train ! edged with Ascot lace. A filmy tulle j veil was held in place with a topknot of velvet flowers and she carried a shower bouquet of cream gladioli and roses. The Bridesmaids Two bridesmaids were in attendance, the bride's sister, Miss Molly Wilson, and Miss Dorothy Pollard. They wore charming picture frocks of tea rose pink and spring green hailstone dimity net. These were designed with frilled heart-shaped pockets, finished with little black velvet bows. This idea was carried out in little hats with charming effect. They carried Victorian posies of pink and green waterlily dahlias. The bridegroom was attended by Mr George Smith as best man and Mr Frank Rooth was groomsman. I The ushers were Private D. John- ■ ston and Mr J. Wilson. | After the ceremony a reception ! was held at the Mangateparu Hall, j which had been most attractively ; decorated with dahlias, sweetpeas and I asters in shades to tone with the j bridesmaids’ frocks. Mrs Wilson rei ceived her guests wearing a model ! frock of juniper satin-backed crepe, ; and a straw hat to tone finished with I foxglove veiling. She carried a posy !of toning dahlias. She was assisted j by Mrs W. Sharp, who acted on be- ; half of the bridegroom’s mother. She | wore a smart navy and white ensemble and carried a posy of flame I roses and maidenhair fern. When Mr and Mrs Steed left | by car, the bride wore a smart frock of teal marquisette and a dove grey ' coat, hat, and accessories. She carried a black fur stole. Mr and Mrs L. C. WAITE—PAUL BRIDE IN MAGNOLIA SATIN The wedding was solemnised recently at St. George’s Anglican Church, Frankton Junction, between Pearl Melba, youngest daughter of Mr and Mrs W. Waite, of Maeroa, and Gunner Daniel William Paul, sth Reinforcements, Second N.Z.E.F., Papakura, eldest son of Mr A. Paul, Taumarunui. The Rev. V. A. Bianchi officiated at the ceremony. The church was prettily decorated by friends of the bride. The bride, who was escorted by her father, wore a gown of magnolia rose embroidered satin, designed with a heart-shaped neckline and long fitting sleeves. The corsage I was fitting and the skirt panels wid- • ened out to form a petal-shaped tram. Her lovely veil was pleated ! on to a halo of orange blossom, and • she carried a bouquet of white carnations and deep cream roses. A gold and sapphire cross, the gift of j the bridegroom, was worn, j In attendance as matron-of-honour ; was Mrs G. Daniels, of Napier, wearI ing a frock of green pin-tucked net, ! over tnauve taffeta. She wore a hair posy of mauve flowers and she carried a lovely bouquet of mauve asters and maidenhair fern. Mr C. H. Waite, brother of the bride, acted as best man. The reception was held at the home of the bride’s parents. Mrs Waite received the guests in a frock of navy and white sheer, worn with a posy of mauve flowers. When Mr and Mrs Paul left on their honeymoon the bride wore a navy pin-stripe costume and accessories to match.
