WIN FOR BRIGHT LADY HURDLES TO CAPPY CLINCH WINS CUP (By Telegraph.—Special from “Martian”) PAEROA, Saturday Fine weather obtained for the first day of the Ohinemuri Jockey Club’s autumn meeting at Paeroa to-day. Winner trained by I’. Corrigan, Avondale. Jumping out smartly, Bright I.ady soon opened up a break of a couple of lengths over Hogarth, Peter Douglas, Prince Louis, and Miliinui. Across the top Bright Lady was followed by Peter Douglas, with Prince Louis, Hogarth and Miliinui in that order. Bright Lady was clear into the straight and she held on to boat the favourite, Peter Douglas, by two lengths, with Prince Louis a neck awav in third place. Reilly ramily, put up a line performance but had not mum lo spare in a desperate finish with the Improved Devon, who ran the Ilaceiful gelding to a head. Captain Bell, who incidentally returned double figures for a place, went a fail 1 race for third. Lapidarian’s chances were not assisted when he was rorced wide out at the turn when Surmise (who had lost his rider) ran up on the rails. Gay Seton jumped out smartly to take the lead, and he was clear of Cappy passing the stands, and then came Mendelssohn, lla-ckenselunitt and Lapidarian. Racing along the back stretch Gay Seton. Cappy and Devon were clear or Lapidarian and Little Ruse, but here Gay Seton fell. leaving Cappv and Devon rully 20 lengths clear o-f the rest, which was headed by Captain Bel! and Lapidarian. The finish beiweep Cappy and Devon was a grand one, and the former got the verdict by a 'naad. Captain Bell was two lengths away third; and Lapidarian. almost in line, was fourth.
