TAUPO HOSPITAL

DIRECTOR-GENERAL’S REPORT A report was received from the Director-General of Health, Dr. M. H. Watt, by the Waikato Hospital Board yesterday that departmental officials had inspected residences at Taupo and would not recommend any of them as suitable to be leased or purchased for hospital purposes. Plans and specifications already prepared by the board would be considered as soon as possible and suggestions made concerning a suitable building. A scheme to erect a seven-bed hospital at Taupo estimated to cost 9350 was rejected at the February meeting of the board on account of the heavy expense involved.
