MORRINSVILLE NOTES
PRESENTATIONS TO SOLDIERS The Morrinsville Physical Culture Hall was filled to capacity recently when people of Morrinsville and the surrounding districts gathered to honour the men of the sth Reinforce- , ments. Miller, W. Johnson, J. Kihi, R. Koinaki, Henry Kiki, B. Roto, F. Corcoran, D. McDonald, G. Matheson, N. E. East, R. A. Manning and C. Coles. Items enjoyed during the evening were given by Miss E. Scott, Misses J. Evetts and D. Blanchette, Miss M. Milburn, Miss B. Holland and a drill display was carried out by the Morrinsville Amazons. The speakers for the evening were Mr W. lVlorrice, deputy Mayor. Captain E. C. N. Robinson, deputising for Mr E. Hitchman, president of the Morrinsville R.S.A., and Mr Kennedy, chairman of Piako County Council. On behalf of the Morrinsville Patriotic Society, Mr Morrice presented each soldier with a well-equipped leather hold-all and wished him God speed and a safe return. HONORARY MEMBERS’ DAY The honorary members of the Morrinsville Croquet Club were entertained recently by the club members at the lawns. The pavilion was gay with flowers in the club colours and visitors were welcomed by the president, Mrs P. J. Cooper. Competitions were won by Mrs H. Wilson and Mrs R. D. McLeod.
