PLUNKET APPEAL
GRATIFYING RESPONSE £127 COLLECTED YESTERDAY Canvassers were very busy yesterday conducting a street appeal for funds on behalf of the Hamilton branch of the Plunket Society, and the response from the public was £127 8s lOd, practically identical with the amount raised a year ago. Commenting this morning, Mrs N. E. Blomfield, president of the Hamilton blanch of the society, said the response was very gratifying, especially in view of tne many otner calls on the generosity of the public. The good work of the society could be continued throughout the year, for, in addition to the funds raised by the street collection, there would be donations from appreciative parents.
The appeal for mothers to become financial members had met a fair response. Mrs Blomfield, besides thanking the public for its support, paid a tribute to the work of the Diocesan Old Girls for collecting in the morning and to the members of the committee and their friends for collecting in the afternoon. The Frankton branch of the society conducted its annual street collection yesterday and members of the committee expressed gratification at the return of £l2 2s, which was slightly better than last year’s result.
