CONSCIENTIOUS OBJECTORS BAPTIST ASSEMBLY DISCUSSION (By Telegraph.—Press Association) DUNEDIN, Wednesday A discussion on conscientious objectors took place at the annual Assembly of the New Zealand Congregational Church, during the presentation of a loyal resolution. Mr Reynolds (Wellington) pointed out that there were church members whose consciences were directed against war. If asked by the tribunal wnether the church was for or against wai, what should they reply? the chairman, the Rev. J. Hoskin, S3l tile resolution was merely an al....nation of loyalty. A discussion on conscientious objectors was out of order.
He pointed out that it was competent for a minister to support an appeal provided he was convinced of its genuineness. Latex it was decided that the reference committee be asked to find a place on the agenda for a discussion on such objectors and those who on conscientious grounds defied decisions of the Appeal Courts.
