WISH TO RETIRE

RT. HON. G. W. FORBES NATIONAL PARTY ADVISER {By Telegraph.—special lo Times) WELLINGTON, Wednesday An intimation that he wished to retire from politics after the present session of Parliament, has been conveyed to the National Party by the Rt. Hon. G. W. Forbes, a former Prime Minister of New Zealand. Mr Forbes has represented the Hurunui electorate since 1908 in the House of Representatives. He has expressed the wish to retire if a suitable man can be found io take his place. This wish has been conveyed to the Hurunui electorate committee. He is the third Opposition member of the present Parliament to announce his intention to retire irom national politics. The others are Sir Alfred Ransom (Pahiatua) and the Hon. J. G. Cobbe (Manawatu). Two Government members, the Hon. W. Lee Martin (Raglan), former Minister of Agriculture, and Dr. D. G. McMillan (Dunedin West) have also announced their forthcoming retirements.
