THE HOMELAND SOCIETY
LEXTERS FROM ENGLAND The Homeland Society held its meeting in the supper room adjoining St. Peter’s Hall, when the president, Mrs Warren, presided over a ! good attendance of members and | friends. Many interesting but sad letters received from kinsfolk in the Homeland were read by some of the members. * Miss R. Stephenson gave a very interesting and enjoyable address on her travels and life in California and New York. It was decided to hold a whist drive at some future date. Members were asked to hand in/ names of soldiers, sailors or airmen having no relatives in New Zealand, who are serving with the New Zealand forces, so that the society can send them parcels of comforts. Afternoon tea was served by Mrs Duffell, Miss Blair and Mrs Poole. The next meeting will take place .on Thursday next, at 2 p.m., when all Scotch, Irish, Welsh and English persons interested in the society are assured of a warm welcome.
