HAPPY EVENING
PRESENTATION TO RESIDENTS A happy evening was held in the Te Kowhai Hall recently, the occasion being a presentation to Mr and Mrs Alt' Hunt on their retirement from business. Miss Merle Magner presented Mrs Hunt with a posy from the young folk of the district. Mr Harris, in making a presentation of a silver tea service to Mrs Hunt, and a rug to Mr Hunt, spoke of the wonderful kindness and service rendered to the district by both Mr and Mrs Hunt. He mentioned the early days, when Mr Hunt brought the Te Kowhai mail from Ngaruawahia and the kindness which he dis- \ played in doing all the odd shopping ’ for the district. In wishing Mr and I Mrs Hunt every happiness in their reI tirement he expressed the desire of 1 a very large circle of friends. | The proceeds of the evening were for the women’s patriotic parcel fund and £l3 was forwarded to assist this worthy cause.
