GARDEN PARTY

FIFTY POI NDS RAISED Promoted by the Parents’ Association, a garden party was held at the Teasdale Street Primary School, Te Awamutu, recently, when there was an attendance of several hundred people. The function was arranged to raise funds for the swimming pool being erected at the school. Arrangements were in the capable hands of Mrs H. V. Pearte, who received every assistance from the headmaster, Mr N. F. Rigby, and his staff, Mr A. Hughes, chairman of the association, Mr L. S. Armstrong, chairman of the school committee, and Mr O. O’Brien. Those in charge of stalls were:— Tearoom, Mesdames Pearte, G. M. Wall, A. E. Menary, J. Fleming, K. N. Hiskens and C. Sherley; sweets, Mesdames R. Cullen, R. Andrew, and N. Rigby; produce, Mesdames Fullerton, Knight and Miss Mather; ice cream and drinks, Mesdames Richards, Carter and Ward. Sixpenny lunches were served to 175 persons. Mrs L. Eyre, of Kihikihi, had charge of the competitions, which were won by Mrs L. S. Armstrong, Mrs Barton, Mrs M. K. Macky, Mrs Cleland (Kio Kio), Mrs Creswell, Mrs Ngano (Kihikihi), Mrs G. M. Wall, Mrs Cleland, Mr A. Hughes, Mr McGhie, Mr S. Mercep and Mr Short. Over £SO was raised by the effort.
