ASSAULT CHARGE “STRIPPED AND TARRED" NAPIER, Monday The alleoed assault, in which the c°""l'llainant said he was covered with tail and horsehair, was heard by Mr J. Miller. SJlll. to-day. Defendants were four brothers, Ronald. Walter, Percy and Douglas Watson and thev were charged with assaulting John Picone. Ronald Wabson faced a further charge of assault. Complainant, John Picone, said he was awakened at 3 o’clock one morning by Walter Watson who told him hu (Picono‘s) boat was sinking. Ha wont with Walter to a car and was taken into the country when his clothes were removed and tar and hora-hair were applied by Ronald Watson. Later they went to a house from which Ronald Watson‘s wufe was brought out. Witness said that when questioned by Ronald he had said he had taken Mrs Watson to a theatre unit had soon her on other occasions hut had domed any other relations. The case is proceeding.
