CAMBRIDGE LYCEUM CLUB

ANN I AI. MEETING HELD Presiding over a good attendance ' >f members, Mrs H. B. Kish worth, president of the Cambridge Lyceum iZlub, took the chair at the first annual meeting at the club rooms re- ; jently. The annual report stated that despite war conditions the first year of the club had proved very successful, the enthusiasm and generosity of the committee and members who had personally renovated the rooms and donated furniture being a contributing factor to the great progress made. There were 145 members and the balance sheet showed a credit balance of £35. A vote of thanks was passed to the honorary auditor, Mr T. H. Hampshire. The convenors of circles presented reports, Mrs A. J. Law for the Bridge Circle, stating that there were fifty members in this circle, which had donated a considerable portion of the proceeds to the Red Cross Society and patriotic appeals. Reading a report of the Gardening Circle, Mrs E. J. Nickle said many lectures and demonstrations had been given and several gardens were visited by the thirty members of this circle. A report of the Literary Circle was held over owing to the absence of the convener, Miss G. Perkins. On behalf of the country members, Mrs S. H. Judd expressed appreciation of the services given by the club. The president expressed the members’ regret that the efficient secretary, Mis W. S. McEwen was unable to continue the secretarial duties and a vote of thanks was passed for the work she had done. Officers lor the ensuing year were elected as follows: —President, Mrs H. B. Rishworth; vice-presidents, Mesdanu«s A. J. Law and R. S. Hanna; honorary secretary, Mrs E. J. Nickle; honorary treasurer, Mrs J. A. Wallace; committee, Mesdames F. Kingsiord, D. K. McMillan, C. H. Maisey, J. W. Peake, D. W. Ariell, and Miss M. Massey; convener of Bridge Circle, Miss G. L. Brann; convener of Gardening Circle, Mrs D. W. Ariell.
