Maratua ran right up to the good form he showed at Cambridge recently, when, after being handily placed throughout, he came along with a solid run and won in convincing style, k'atoomiba llnlshed fairly well to get second money, while Franco i was sticking on in third position, but the | well -sujiported Langdale, after tangling at several vital points, was relegated to about sixth position at the judge’s box. Langdale was the early pacemaker, and i he led out Promt Marminga, Franco, AnAtony's Gift and Krua Peter. Anthony's Gift ran up alongside a little further oil, ! and xva* still handily placed along the back, where their nearest attendants were Oxford, Marminga, Guide Peter and Ka* tootnba, with Franco and iMaratua at the head of the others. Langdale and Marminga were hard pressed by Anthony’s Gift at the turn where Maratua and Ka- ; tootnba moved up smartly. Maratua continued his run to pass horse after horse and reach the judge three and a-half lengths ahead of a tootnba, who was threoquarters of a length clear of Franco. Stewart’s stable at Te Rapa, gave a quick return to her new connections when she came through in attractive style over the last two furlongs to win well from Lynn Bey and the trotter Yam Lad, who galloped past the post. Princess Linnett, arter making a forward move along the Back the last time round, failed to make any impression on the leaders in the deciding stages. Club King went away smartly and led in tiie early stages from Lynn Bey, Grand Dame, Bedford, Katene and Petite Jewel. Racing past tne stands at the conclusion of fine round there was little alteration, but then Petite Jewel raced up to take the lead from Club King, with Princess Linnett improving her ground, and Katene, Lynn Bey, Grand Dame and Bedford all within striking distance.
