PEDESTRIAN'S DEATH
VERDICT AT INQUEST
An inquest was held yesterday before the district coroner, Mr F. W. Platts, into the death of David George McGifford, aged 32, slaughterman. of Ngaruawahia. Evidence was given that when deceased was walking along the main south road at Horotiu on the night of January 26 he was knocked down by a motor-car driven by Henry David Bruce Newman, motor-sales-man. of Hamilton. He died of head injuries in the Waikato Hospital the following day. The driver of the car said he could not see the pedestrian on the asphalt road owing to the dazzlivig lights of other cars. A verdict of accidental death was returned.
