ANNUAL MEETING

F. & T. WOMEN’S ASSOCIATION YEAR’S ACTIVITIES REVIEWED The annual meeting of the Hamilton Post and Telegraph Women’s Association was held recently in the lounge of the Y.M.C.A., which was attractively decorated with bowls of cyclamen and purple asters. Mrs j Dwyer presided over a good attendance of members. The annual report which was read by the honorary secretary, Mrs C. Bramley, contained an interesting record of the activities of the association. These included assisting with St. John and Poppy Day appeals, the organisation of a successful function for patriotic funds, supporting the Nurses’ Queen during the carnival, the sorting of clothes for the Lady Galway Guild ! and assisting with the packing of j parcels for soldiers overseas. Mrs C. Clark, convener of the war chest sub-committee, reported that 62 parcels had been despatched to members of the Hamilton Post and Telegraph staff, who are serving with the New Zealand Expeditionary Force. The report of the drama circle was read by Mrs M. Buckland (convener), and Mrs Quill (sick visitor) reported several visits to members in their homes and in hospital. Appreciation of her work in this connection was expressed by the president, Mrs Dwyer. Floral Tributes Presented A beautiful bouquet of crimson roses was presented by Mrs Dwyer to Mrs Clark (patroness) in appreciation pf the assistance given by her at all times to the association.

Mrs W. Dwyer was the recipient of a sheaf of scarlet dahlias presented, on behalf of the members, by Mrs C. Bramley, as a token of their esteem. Mrs Bramley expressed their regret that Mrs Dwyer was unable to continue her excellent work as president of the association. Sprays were also presented by the president to Mrs Bramley (honorary secretary), Mrs Nodder (honorary treasurer), Mrs Sherson (tea convener) and Miss Roche (press reporter). % The election of officers for the ensuing year resulted as follows: Patroness, Mrs C. Clark; president, Miss E. Roche; vice-presidents, Mrs C. Bramley and Mrs W. Dwyer; secretary, Mrs Paice; treasurer, Mrs Cameron; committee, Mesdames Euckiand, Tyler, Sherson, Ineson, Coleman, Grant and Nodder; war chest sub-committee, Mesdames Nodder (convener), Tyler and Dwyer; press reporter, Mrs Grant; sick visitor, Mrs Quill; tea convener, Mrs Sherson; drama circle, Mrs Buckland (convener); visiting members) Mesdames Tyler and Mack. The hostesses for the afternoon were members of the outgoing committee who served a delicious afternoon tea.

Those present were: Mesdames Clark, Dwyer, Foley, Buckland, Bramley, Nodder, Tyler, Nicholas, 'Quill, Arns, Sherson, Cameron, Mack, Fulton, Coleman, Hurrell, Paice, Hinkley and Miss Roche.
