EXPENSIVE FLOUNDERS
TWO FISHERMEN FINED In an unusual prosecution at the Magistrate’s Court, Hamilton, today j before Mr W. H. Freeman, S.M., Mr ' H. A. Dillner, for the Marine Departi ment, charged two young men, Edward Brown, of Ngaruawahia, and R. W. Pratt, of Hamilton, with taking flounders at Raglan on December 15, 1940, with an undersized mesh net. Both defendants pleaded guilty, and expressed their ignorance of the regulations. It was stated in Brown’s case that the net, which cost £l2 10s, had been seized. Brown, who did not appear in Court, was fined £2 and costs. Pratt was convicted and ordered to pay costs.
