ANNUAL PICNIC
KAIPAKI SCHOOL CHILDREN The Kaipakl School’s annual picnic was bold recently at the Hamilton Lake where swimming and games were enjoyed. Lunch and afternoon tea were served under the trees and later Ice cream and sweets were distributed. During the afternoon Mr E. MCEldowtiey, chairman or the committee, presented each child with a book. A programme of races was lield, results being as rollows: senior boys, 100yds: Joe c.ourtman 1, Edward Harvey j, Graeme McEldowny 3. Junior boys, 50yds: Alan McEldowny 1, Lyall Swindle.hurst 2, Clive Cunnlnghajn 3. Senior girls, 100yds: Bernice Cowie 1, Hazel Douglas 2, Elva Davenport 3. Junior girls, 50yds: Bettlc McEldowny, Bettie Vickers, l; Ettie Douglas 3. Threelegged race, boys: Edward Harvey and Joe Courtman l, Lyall -SwlndJeliurst and Graeme McEldowney 2, W. Courtman and Clive Cunningham 3. Three-legged race, girls: Mary Douglas and Bernice Cowie 1, title Douglas and Margaret Harvey 2, Jean Douglas and Joan Hampton 3. Open race: Jean Douglas 1. Mary Douglas 2, Ettie Douglas and Bernice Cowie, tie, 3. ,-ack race, boys: Allan McEldowney 1, Edward Harvey 2, Joe Courtman 3. Sack race, girls: Ettie Douglas 1.
