RIGHT OF APPEAL

EMPLOYERS’ ACTION TERRITORIAL AIANOEUVRES (By Telegraph.—Press Association) WELLINGTON, Alonday “Manpower Committees will consider applications by employers unable to spare their men for mobilisation for manoeuvres by the Territorial Force.” said the Minister of National Service, the Hon. R. Semple, in an interview this evening. “As already announced the units concerned will be required for 14 days’ special training during the period April 7 to June 6. “It is especially desired that there shall be a full muster so that all ranks can have the benefit of special training. I fully appreciate, however. that some men will be engaged on important work and will be difficult to spare. “I should like to make it known that employers can apply to Alanpower Committees to withhold employees.” Air Semple continued, “If such is the case applications should be made in writing to the secretary of

appropriate committee. I cannot urge too strongly that applications should be lodged as soon as possible, as lastminute applications cause serious difficulties to both the committees and the Army authorities. “Employers will be expected to release men if it is possible to do so. Applications can be entertained only it the reservists are engaged on important work and it is not possible to carry on in their absence.”
