THAMES TROTS
WORK AT CLAUDELANDS ALCAZAR GOES WELL SILVER COUNTESS PLEASES Owing to two trotting events being run at Cambridge tomorrow in connection with the Waikato Central Agricultural and Pastoral Association’s show, providing Waikato owners with an opportunity of running along in preparation for the Thames meeting on Saturday, there was little activity at Claudelands this morning, when the course proper provided excellent going. Worthy Treasure (Laird) was sent a mile and a half, coming home the final half-mile in 1.12. He looks in good order for pending engagements. Alcazar (Cockbill) was doing better than Albertini (Cutts) at the completion of a mile and a-half run in 3.31 the final half-mile being traversed in 1.7 2-5. It was a useful trial on the part of both horses, who should strip in good fettle for Thames engagements. Katene (Dunn) worked a couple of miles free legged. Noble Prince (Oliver) was not after time in working steadily over a couple of rounds, being timed over his final half-mile in 1.11 1-5. Tumble and an unnamed pacer were several lengths clear of trotter Silver Countess (Primmer inr.) over a mile and a-half in 3.40, the last half-mile of which they ran in 1.8. Silver Countess will lack nothing on the r.core of condition for racing at the Thames fixture. Among those to be allotted useful tasks were Marminga. Snowy Bingen. Pitcairn, Cynic. Shirwin (Silk Thread-Cleo) and another maiden. Albercete (a full-brother to Modest Maid).
