EXTRA BENZINE

EXHIBITORS AT SHOW CIRCULAR TO CONTROLLERS A reply that exhibitors, officials and judges at agricultural shows will receive similar treatment to last year has been received from the Oil Fuel Controller, Wellington, by Mr W. L. . Ranstead, secretary of the Waikato j Agricultural and Pastoral Associa- j tion. The Controller has advised Mr j Ranstead that all district controllers j have been circularised to give sym- : pathetic consideration again to all applications for special, licenses for exhibitors, officials and judges. All ! such applications must be supported i by a certificate from the secretary of the association concerned, confirm- j ing the fact that the applicant is an j exhibitor, official or judge at the j show. INTEREST IN POULTRY NEW CLUB’S MOVEMENTS A strong bid to increase the interest in poultry-keeping is being made by the Waikato Poultry Club, a comparatively new organisation formed to provide for the poultry fancier and for the beginner in poultry-keeping. The latter would otherwise have no avenue through which to benefit by j the experience of others. Much useful information has been gained from the lectures given at the monthly meetings of the Hamilton branch of the New Zealand Poultry Producers’ Federation. Interesting films dealing with different aspects of poultry keeping have been shown in Hamilton this year and it is intended to show further films in December. Features at Show The club has offered a silver cup for the best Orpington exhibited by a club member at the Waikato Summer Show at Claudelands on November 1 and 2. The Orpington classes have been chosen for this award because year by year these classes have proved the popularity of the 1 breed by providing the largest number of entries in district shows. A second attraction at the show will be a talk to school children by Mr E. C. Jarrett, Government Poultry Instructor, on the Saturday, the second day of the show. Prizes will be offered by members for the best essay on the subject chosen by Mr Jarrett.
