TRIBUTE TO WORK
MR J. W. CONNELL LEAVING INSTRUCTOR’S APPOINTMENT Tributes to the work of Mr J. W. Connell as an agricultural instructor in the Waikato were paid at a meeting of the executive of the Hamilton Group of Boys and Girls’ Agricultural Clubs last night, when Mr Connell was congratulated on his appointment as senior instructor in agriculture and supervisor of manual and technical education to the Taranaki Education Board.
The president, Mr A. E. McDonald, referred to the valuable work done by Mr Connell in the district. Despite the fact that he had a very large area to cover he had found time to attend to any request made to him in regard to agricultural club work. The great progress made in the Waikato centre was undoubtedly due to Mr Connell’s enthusiastic cooperation. In Mr Connell’s departure the district was losing a very capable offices.
Other speakers also paid tribute to Mr Connell’s work, Mr H. C. Wallance, a past president of the club, referring particularly to his pioneering work in connection with the agricultural club movement in the Waikato.
