The Rt. Rev. C. A. Cherrington, Bishop of Waikato, is visiting Palmerston North. His Lordship will confirm 99 candidates at All Saints’ Church on Sunday morning, take a confirmation service at St. Peter’s in the afternoon and another at Feilding in the evening. He will leave for the Waikato by the Limited Express.
Dr. Ulric Williams, of Wanganui, is visiting Hamilton.
Mr R. H. Fryer is gazetted as registrar of marriages, births and deaths at Te Aroha.
Mr H. D. Hammond is gazetted as a member of the Tokoroa Rabbit Board.
Messrs K. Holloway (Auckland), A. McKnight and R. Phillips (Wellington) are at the Hamilton Hotel.
Lieutenant J. W. Wilson is posted to the Ist Battalion, Hauraki Regiment.
Lieutenant Commissioner J. Evan Smith, territorial commander of the Salvation Army in New Zealand, wiJ l visit Hamilton during the week-end.
Lieutenant T. J. Cronin, N.Z.P.S., who was formerly attached to the No. 4 (Hamitlon) Military Area, has been posted to the 18th (Auckland) Battalion, and granted the temporary rank of Captain.
Major T. McCarroll is appointed by notice in this week’s Gazette to command the No. 3 (Hauraki) Squadron • Mounted Rifles. Mr H. T. Penrhys- ! Evans (late N.Z.E.F.) is to be lieu- ! tenant in the same squadron.

! appointed by the Children’s Overseas I Reception Board, London, as liaison ! officer to the British Children’s ! Reception Committee in New Zeaj land, will be attached to the staff of ! the High Commissioner for the ; United Kingdom in New Zealand, Sir Harry Batterbee, and will work ’in close collaboration with the j superintendent of child welfare. 1 Major Bavin is expected to arrive in l New Zealand shortly.
! Dr. Trevor Knights, of Hamilton, ! has been appointed to the No. 3 General Hospital (Overseas) Second : New Zealand Expeditionary Force. Dr. Knights, who has been on the : staff of the Waikato Hospital for j some months, returned early this j year from the Belgian Congo where j he was stationed for three years as a i medical missionary. A Hamiltonian ; and educated at the Hamilton High | School, before qualifying in medicine | at the Otago University in 1933. Dr. Knights was on the staff of the Waikato Hospital for two years before 1 leaving for the Belgian Congo.
