OBITUARY

MR FRANK B. BOWDEN A former resident of Te Awamutu, Mr Frank B. Bowden, died at Devonport, Auckland, on Wednesday, aged 71. Mr Bowden came to the district with his parents about 50 years ago when they settled at Paterangi. They later moved to the Mission Farm. Te Aw'amutu, and then Hairini, then known as Rangiaohia. Mr Bowden retired about 20 years ago and resided in Te Awamutu until he went to Devonport. Mr Bowden took an interest in school affairs, Farmers’ Union work, and other public organisations, and was a cricket and football enthusiast. He was a well-known referee and took an active part in the management of the Waipa Rugby Union. He was also president of the bowling club and retained his interest in the game at. Devonport. He is survived by his wife and a‘ daughter, Miss Edna Bowden.
