BEEF BELL SALE
PRICES TO 800GNS. Keen values were realised at the 20th annual stud bull sale of the New Zealand Aberdeen Angus Cattle Breeders’ Association at Dannevirke on Wednesday. Top price was 800gns.. the average for the 95 lots sold being 57£gns., as compared with 46igns. last year. The offerings came forward in good condition and were of the finest quality yet offered at the annual sales. Mr D. G. Grant and Mrs M. May offered bulls for sale, the proceeds to go to patriotic funds. The two bulls realised 800 and 32gns. respectively. The 800gns. was paid by Mrs M. May for Elpermo of Mangatoro, one of the line entries auctioned on behalf of Mr D. G. Grant. One of the entries from Tautane Stud, Ltd., Tartan Eric of Tautane, sold to Mr J. Webb at 190gns.. and 172£gns. was paid by Mr J. E. Richardson for Eugene of Waitaria, one of Mr G. V. Smith’s entries. Mr W. S. Booth was the last bidder at 180gns. on Jimmie Jinks, one of the tops of Mrs M. May’s offering. Apart from his top-priced entry, Mr D. G. Grant sold one of his entries to Mr J. A. Mitchell at 275gns. and another to Mr W. S. Glenn at 170gns
