NURSES’ QUEEN
COMMITTEES ELECTED PARTICIPATION IN CARNIVAL The formation of a comprehensive committee to conduct the campaign of the' Nurses’ Queen, Miss S. E. Ryburn, in the Waikato Queen Carnival, organised to raise £45,000, was completed at a meeting in the Waikato Hospital Board’s office last night. The meeting passed a resolution pledging all possible -support to Miss Ryburn in the effort to make her the Waikato Queen. In the absence of Mr F. Findlay, chairman of the Hospital Board, Dr. H. L. Gould, the medical superintendent, presided over a good attendance. The election of officers and subcommittees resulted:—Patron, Mr F. W. Burley; secretary, Mr E. W. Taylor; treasurer, Mr A. B. Whyte; organiser, Mr C. W. Pepperell; auditor, Mr F. W. Course; finance committee, Messrs F. W. Course, L. C. Day and A. G. Ward; emergency committee, Messrs L. C. Day, A. J. Yendell, A. E. Gibbons and C. Croall; donations committee, Messrs R. Walker, F. Findlay, A. B. Whyte, Sisters E. A. Greenwood, V. E. Herdman; ways and means committee, Mesdames M. I. Duthie, C. Croall, Misses P. Wilkins, D. E. Menzies, F. W. Course, R. Walker, Gavin and Wood; entertainment committee, Messrs R. Dickson, G. A. Sherson, F. R. Walker, J. Gordon-Smith, Mesdames N. L. Sherson, I. Ousley, Misses D. E. Menzies, B. Farrer and E. J. House; collection committee, Mesdames M. I. Duthie, A. E. Gibbons, C. R. Edwards, I. Ousley, D. I. Knight, F. W. Course, F. R. Walker, C. Croall, D. I. Gate, T. Simpson, F. Herbert, Misses P. Wilkins, M. H. Williamson, G. Barlow, B. Mclntosh, M. E. Hall, Sisters E. A. Greenwood, J. I. Martin, Messrs J. A. Lewis and G. R. Davies. Big Sports Carnival Mr C. G. Hunt, the carnival organiser, outlined the campaign, giving much useful information. A letter was received from the Citizens’ Queen Committee regarding a monster parade and sports carnival to be held at the Lake on November 9, the net proceeds of which would be divided equally among the three Hamilton queens. A suggestion that the queen committee arrange some entertainments was approved, and the committee resolved to write to the Citizens’ Queen Committee assuring it of whole-hearted co-operation.
