MISS VALERIE SHAPES WELL ULMER’S ROSE PLEASES HORSES FOR ROTORUA (By Telegraph.—Spprlal to Time?) AUCKLAND, Thursday The No. 1 grass track, on which the pole*? were out IOTt.. was available for fast work this morning at Ellerslie and provided excellent going. Several horses with engagements at the Rotorua meeting on Saturday were sprinted and shaped well. BoomP'-a- Daisy reeled oIT live furlong? In 1.7. being timed to cover the last nailin',le in 52 2-s*. Slie was running on better than usual at the finish. Miss Valerie came home from the rout furlong peg in 5 1 '2-ss, a very satisfactory efTort. VMiatoon and I.andveyor took 1.8 2-5 for five furlongs, the last Tour in 53 3-5 s finishing on terms. Ball Ivor and Urey Wings ran hair-a-mile In 5a 3-ss. the la-t three in 30 l-s*s. Aruhla and Bronze Emerald were gotnz- well within themselves at the end of six furlongs in 1.24 4-5, the last haltmile in 5 < • -ss. Mendelssohn was timed to run three furlongs In 30s. lie has improved noticeably recently. Hunter’s Rose traversed half-a-mile in 53 3-s'. the last three furlongs in 39 3-ss. She came home well and should have prospects at Rotorua. Raratonga traversed the last six rurlongs of a round in 1.19 4-5, increafSing the speed over the la-t half-mile which lie covered m 5 1 4-ss. Sdbrof and Bournemouth were associated over half-a-mile but about half ? furlong from the finish Sebrof fell. It was caused through him bleeding a- a result of v !. Bournemouth finished the gallon in 51 3-ss. Hlnehou and Land-man ran the *ame distance easily In 57 4-ss, Master Warden and Maori .•star taking 5i l-ss. Flying March came home over his las* three rurlongs in io l-.'s and Rronzeora strode over five rurlongs in 1.9 2-3, th< last four in 555. lie had a good deal in Boland gave a very pleasing display over four hurdles and afterwards ran half-a-mile on the grass in 5 ss.
