COUNTRY QUEEN
CARNIVAL CONTEST SHOW SOCIETY’S NOMINEE A decision to nominate Mrs C. P. Harington as the country queen in the forthcoming queen carnival contest in the Waikato for patriotic funds was made at a meeting of the general committee of the Waikato Agricultural and Pastoral Association today. Three names, those of Mrs Harington, Miss Eva Clarkin and Miss June Hinton, were suggested, and to avoid voting on the question the three names were placed in a hat, Mrs Harington’s name being drawn. In the event of Mrs Harington not accepting nomination, Miss June Hinton, whose name was drawn second from the hat, will be the association's nominee. The Farmers’ Union, the Women’s Division and the Women’s Institute as well as district patriotic committees will also be submitting nominations for the country queen.
