WEDDING

STONE—HAYSON IVORY EMBOSSED SATIN The wedding took place in St. Peter’s Cathedral, Hamilton, on the evening of Saturday, September 28, when Irene Eva, only daughter of Mr and Mrs C. H. Hayson, of Rototuna, Hamilton, was married to Kenneth Vernon, only son of Mr and Mrs V. Stone, of Chudleigh, Te Aroha. The Very Rev. T. P. Weatherhog, Dean of Hamilton, was the officiating minister and Mr Stanley Jackson presided at the organ. The church had been arranged with bowls of arum lilies. The bride, who entered the church with her father, wore a graceful gown of ivory embossed satin, the corsage being fashioned with a high neckline and full-length sleeves, ruched at the shoulderline and finishing in points over the hands. Tiny buttons extended down the back of the gown and the skirt fell in soft folds to form a long oval train which was edged with ruching. A halo of stiffened net, finished with a spray of orange blossom held in place the ivory embroidered tulle veil which fell to form a second train. She carried a sheaf of lilies. Lavender Taffeta Frocks

In attendance as bridesmaids were Miss Gwen McDonald, of Waiuku, Miss Joyce Donald, cousin of the bride, of New Plymouth, and Miss Joyce Stone, sister of the bridegroom, of Te Aroha, who wore similar frocks of lavender taffeta fashioned on slim-fitting lines. Sil-ver-stitched quilting finished the edge of the sleeves, the hemlines and the square necklines and -waistlength lavender tulle veils were held in place by top-knots of cyclamen flowers. They carried bouquets of lavender and pink-shaded sweet peas with maidenhair fern. Aircraftsman W. Penticost, Wellington, was the best man and Messrs Norman Holmes, of Te Aroha, and Reginald Hayson, brother of the bride, were the groomsmen. The The ushers at the church were Messrs Ray Shirley, of Tatuanui, and Walter Maria, of Te Aroha. After the ceremony a reception was held at the Daintie Tea Rooms, which had been charmingly arranged with lilac and spring flowers. Mrs Hayson received her guests wearing a frock of haze green ripple sheer with a toning hat and coat and she carried a posy of autumn-shaded flowers. The bridegroom’s mother was wearing a navy georgette frock with a toning hat and coat and she carried a posy of autumn-tinted flowers.
