BRITISH CHILDREN
FREE HOSPITAL BENEFITS WAIKATO BOARD’S DECISION British children evacuees who become residents of the Waikato district will be granted free of charge out-patient treatment at the hospitals controlled by the Waikato Hospital Board. This concession was made by the board yesterday. The Director-General of Health, Dr. M. H. Watt, in a communication stated that people in New Zealand who had undertaken to provide homes for the children were doing so gratuitously. Among the measures of assistance, however, which it was desired to render to foster-parents wa> the provision of any necessary medical, dental and hospital care for the children. Children generally would be entitled to hospital benefits under the Social Security Act. Arrangements were being made for children pf school age to receive free any treatment within the scope of school dental clinics, and the New Zealand Dental Association and the New Zealand Branch of the British Medical Association were being approached for any assistance within their power.
