PATRIOTIC APPEALS
RED CROSS ATTITUDE The attitude which the Waikato Centre of the Red Cross Society should adopt toward the patriotic appeal being launched throughout New Zealand was discussed at a meeting of the centre in Hamilton an Wednesday. The business was taken in committee but a statement was issued by the centre yesterday. It was stated that the Red Cross Society could not, because of regulations, support the six headings of the appeal, but that representations be made to headquarters in Wellington requesting that the Waikato Centre be allowed to support the two Red Cross objectives ennumerated in the appeal. It was also considered that a general meeting or conference of the Red Cross Society should be held at an early date and that headquarters should consider the desirability of inviting the standing committee of the National Patriotic Council to attend.
