BRANCH FORMED
WAR SERVICE AUXILIARY At a meeting attended by over 80 women it was decided to form, in Matamata, a branch of the Women’s War Service Auxiliary. Mr L. PL Cooke, instructor to the Hamilton branch of the Auxiliary, was present, and explained the workings of the organisation, stating that the Hamilton branch had over 300 members, who' were undertaking many and varied activities. The meeting elected an executive including Miss E. V. Bell, 0.C., Miss I. Rich, secretary; Mesdames Cowell, M. Pond, D. Dobson; Misses J. Thonton and D. Cranswick. A count of those present showed that 28 were prepared to link up with a land army and 23 as transport drivers.
