OFFICIAL OPENING
MATANGI CROQUET CLUB The official opening of the Matangi Ladies’ Croquet Club, which was held recently, was favoured with a day of bright sunshine, this being taken as a good cmen for the coming season. The lawns were in good order and an excellent day’s piay was enjoyed by the members and visitors. 'lhe president. Mrs H. Windsor, in a happy speech, extended a hearty welcome to all. and wished them success in the croquet season. Mrs Jamieson, being the oldest player, was then called upon to play the first ball. lhe winners in the competitive games, organised to entertain the visitors, were as follows:—Mrs G. Russell. Mrs B. Hogan and Mrs Wainwright. Afternoon tea was served in the pavilion, which had been charmingly arranged with spring flowers. Those present were:—Mesdames H. Windsor, A. McClennan, G. Russell, G. Ellice, Marychurch, T. Shaw, Jamieson, McKendry, Hogan, W. McClennan, Wainwright. Jefferies, J. B. Taylor. Bettley, Grant. Misses Ivy Wainwright, Joyce Ellice, Miriam McClennan.
