FOR KARITANE WORK

TRUST GRANT TO MAORIS (By Telegraph.—Press Association) WELLINGTON, Thursday At a meeting of the J. R. McKenzie Trust Board it was felt some provision might conveniently be made for the benefit of the Maori race, and the matter was referred to the Hon. F. Langstone as Minister of Native Affairs. The Minister suggested the board should consider training one or more Maori girls as Karitane nurses. The board adopted this suggestion,, and steps are being taken to select two Maori girls to enter Karitane hospitals to commence training at an early date. Allocations of accrued income from the trust have already been made to war relief organisations, the Returned Soldiers’ Association, and the Plunket Society.
