Copyright) (Received Sept. 30, 3.15 p.m.) CAIRO, Sept. 29 A Royal Air Force communique issued at Cairo states: Enemy air activity in the Western Desert on Saturday was slight. The Royal Air Force bombers made an attack on an enemy lorry convoy fifteen miles west of Bardia. A salvo of bombs fell a few yards ahead of the leading lorry. Enemy positions at Fort Maddalena were bombed and mechanical transport concentrations southwest of Sidi Barrani were also attacked all the bombs falling in the target area. In Abyssinia the Combolcia (Dessie) aerodrome was attacked, direct hits being obtained on a hangar, the doors of which were blown off. Bombs also exploded in the adjacent barracks and compound. Operating from the Sudan Royal Air Force bombers raided Gurall, bombs falling on the target area. It was impossible to estimate at the time the amount of damage. Reconnaissance flights were undertaken by South African Air Force squadrons on Friday and Saturday. From all operations our aircraft returned safely.
