MR HARDCASTLE TRANSFERRED 25 YEARS AT FRANKTON After being stationed at Frankton Junction as a guard for 25 years, Mr James Hardcastle has been transferred on promotion as foreman to Taumarunui. A tribute to his capabilities and the assistance he had always given the various activities of the railway employees was paid at a social evening tendered him in the Railway Institute Hall on Saturday night. Mr D. Bremner presided over a large attendance. Mr J. Scouller, the stationmaster, presented Mr Hardcastle with a gold watch and chain on behalf of the general staff, and Mr R. Longshaw, chairman of the picnic committee, in presenting Mrs Hardcastle with a leather bag, referred to Mr and Mrs Hardcastle’s work on the committee for the past 22 years. Mr P. Johnson, chairman of the Guards’ Club, made a presentation of a pair of bowling shoes to Mr Hardcastle. Other speakers who expressed regret at Mr Hardcastle’s departure and wished him every success in his new position were Messrs R. Crozier, inspector of permanent way, and Mr J.
