DOUBLE ACCIDENT
CAMP MATRON KILLED TWO SENT TO HOSPITAL BYSTANDERS AMONG INJURED (By Telegrapn.—Press Association) PALMERSTON NTH., Monday A double accident, in which a car collided with another vehicle that had previously been involved in a collision, occurred on the mam highway two miles north of Waikanae last evening. Miss Gould, matron at the Otaki Children’s Health Camp, received injuries from which she died in the Palmerston Hospital. Several people, including bystanders at the first accident, were injured. Two sent to hospital were Mr Neate, father of Dr. F. Neate, and Mr W. H. Mills, formerly principal of the Otaki Maori College. The first accident occurred about 6.45 p.m. when Dr. Neate’s car, which was travelling north, struck a stationary vehicle. Dr. Neate was slightly injured. He had several passengers in his car, one of them being Mr Wills. Two others in the doctor’s car were also slightly injured. While the first accident was being attended to another car, driven by Mr William A. Paris, of Palmerston North, also travelling north, struck Dr. Neate’s car. Miss Gould, who was standing on the road at the time, had driven Dr. Neate’s father to the scene of the original smash. Mr Neate was also standing on the road when the second accident occurred.
