NEW SCHOOL SITE
HAMILTQN EAST PROPERTY
A report on the Hamilton High School property of 47 acres in Hamilton East was read by the chairman, Mr C. L. Mac Diarmid, at the monthly meeting of the Board of Governors yesterday. It was recommended that the new school buildings should be erected somewhere on the north-west portion of the 30 acre block in Peachgrove Road, with the main entrance at the end ol Argyle Street. For the present no attempt should be made to utilise the 17 acre block, which should remain leased until requireC
The committee which had considered the position recommended that a grant should be applied for \ and English trees planted next winter i along the Peachgrove Road boundary 1 and a row of hedge trees along the northern end. After obtaining expert advice as to the best methods the 1 grounds should be drained and , levelled. When completed the school J would have a magnificent site equal ! to any school property in New Zea- . land.
j Mr F. A. Snell expressed disappointment that no reply Had been received from the Minister concerning the lay-out of the grounds. The 1 matter was referred to the committee.
