“YOU NEVER CAN TELL”

JOLLY WIND-UP PARTY The charming rooms of the home of Mr and Mrs W. H. Blakeway were filled to capacity when the cast of the successful Playbox production “You Never Can Tell,” and their friends, held a jolly party after the final performance on Thursday night. A delicious supper was served by the hostess, Mrs Blakeway, and the high feeling of gaiety and good spirits which prevailed throughout the evening was eloquent testimony of the success of the production. Mrs Zelda Fahey was congratulated on her excellent work as producer and she, in return, thanked the members of the cast for their fine efforts and also thanked the “behind scene” workers, without whom the play could never have been staged. The president of the Playbox, Mr W. H. Blakeway, made eulogistic reference to the cast and the production and made special mention of the members of the Playbox, who are serving overseas, and to other members who are encamping with the fourth reinforcements. The singing of “Auld Lang Syne” brought to a conclusion a successful party, which was a fitting end to a happy production. Among those present:—Mesdames Z. Fahey, H. Absolum, J. Sullivan, E. Mason (Auckland), M. Thomas, L. Winthrop, A. Cope, W. Whitehead, E. Marsh, C. Henry, E. B. MacKenzie, R. Pedrotti, M. Butler, S. Walker, H. W. Crozier (Bay of Plenty), H. D. Curling, F. Greer, W. E. Tisch, C. Edmunds. Misses M. Grace Fuller, G. Snell, Leonie Swarbrick, Betty Davy, Joy Crozier.
